What HRable needed to solve

HRable had to bring professional HR work to companies without an HR team, while serving several very different users from one product.

   Small companies need correct offer letters, policy handbooks and job descriptions, but usually rely on copied templates or paid consultants.

   The platform had to serve four kinds of user: a platform owner, employers, HR staff and employees, each with their own screens.

   Policies had to work at two levels, with core policies set for everyone and custom policies set by each company.

   Every company's documents and staff had to stay fully separate from every other company.

   Access had to follow each company's subscription status, so a lapsed payment changed what users could do.

03 / What we built

How we built HRable

We built a React and TypeScript web app on an Express and MongoDB API, with OpenAI behind the writing tools and Stripe behind billing. Every protected route checks the user's role before it responds.

  AI document generator

  HR staff pick a document type such as an offer letter, NDA or warning letter, fill a short form, and OpenAI drafts it with the company's own details. The result can be downloaded as PDF or DOCX or shared with the employee.

  Job description generator

  Enter a job title and the tools or context for the role, and the generator writes a structured job description with responsibilities and skills. It can be copied or downloaded as a PDF.

  HR Assistant chat

  Users ask everyday HR questions, such as how much annual leave a full-time employee gets, and receive a clear answer. Useful replies can be saved for later.

  Two-level policy management

  Core HR policies such as equal opportunities, health and safety and data protection are read-only, while each company adds its own custom policies. Employees read both in one place.

  Compliance quizzes and risk scores

  The HR Health Check tool stores questions and assigns quizzes to employees, then scores each one. A dashboard gauge shows the company's overall compliance score.

  Employee records and documents

  HR staff add and manage employees, and every generated document is filed under the right person with type and date filters. Employees see their own documents and know which are unread.

  Platform console

  The platform owner manages organizations, licenses and packages such as Starter, Growth and Scale, each with an employee range, monthly price and setup fee. Licenses can be viewed or revoked.

  Stripe subscription billing

  Saving a package creates the matching product and price in Stripe, and a signed webhook copies subscription changes to every user in the company. Access stays in step with payment without manual updates.

What changed for HRable

HRable now covers the full path from package sale to daily HR work, with each type of user getting the screens they need.

• The platform owner defines plans and companies, and employers invite their own staff.
• HR staff produce and store documents, publish policies and run quizzes without outside help.
• Employees read their documents and policies and answer assigned quizzes from desktop or phone.
• Company access follows subscription status automatically through Stripe webhooks.
• File storage sits behind one small interface, so the storage provider can be changed in a single line.
